How to update R4i Ultra for Nintendo DSi 1.4 firmware

Note : This guide is only for R4i ULTRA cards. Do not try on any other R4i cards.

If you are sure your DSi firmware version is 1.4 then proceed as below, otherwise click DSi category on our blog to check your DSi firmware.

You will need these to update your R4i Ultra Card:

Process:

  1. Unzip ‘R4i Ultra update file ‘ you should see this: r4ifw_update_14
  2. Copy this file to the root of the Micro SD card ( which is already loaded with unzipped standard download)
  3. Place the Micro SD back into the R4i Card and insert into DSL/DSi Console ( Not 1.4)
  4. Make sure your DSL/ DSi ( Not 1.4). console is fully charged as it may take upto 15 minutes.
  5. Select the Firmware file ultrai_update.nds
  6. Follow the on screen instructions (Press X + Y to update or double click the file)
  7. Agree to start the update on the next screen ( should be blue screen)
  8. Wait for the update to finish.
  9. Completed! You now have a working R4i Ultra card for DSi Firmware 1.4

    Recently followed the guide to updating the R4 card and when I tried to run the update file on a DS Lite the top screen turned red and nothing else happened.
    Still wont work on DSi, so any help as to where I am going wrong would be appreciated.

      are you trying this guide on r4i ultra card ? This guide is only for r4i ultra cards. This guide is tried and tested before being posted so should work on all R4i ultra cards.

    I am pretty sure it is the Ultra card, according to all the info available the R4i Ultra card has the web address http://www.r4ultra.com printed on the card, but any clarity on the matter would help.
